Tamar Trails
The Tamar Trails is a unique and stunning area of Devon, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. Located in the Tamar Valley, just across the river from Cornwall, the Trails area is an extensive network of woodland tracks and footpaths ideal for walking, running, mountain biking and horse-riding enabling access to Morwellham Quay to the south and the site of Devon Great Consols mining area to the north-west, the largest copper mine in Europe in its heyday. Other relics of the mining past can be found along the paths and tracks.
TCT has recently carried out extensive work to restore direction signs over the whole area so a variety of different trails can be followed using the finger posts and colour-coordinated waymarks together with the downloadable map (below) …
